Trout Unlimited (TU) partnered with the City of Cascade, Cascade High School, Idaho Dept. of Fish and Game, Valley Soil and Water Conservation District, Idaho Soil and Water Conservation Commission, and Valley County Audubon on this project. Over 1,500 feet of riparian habitat was improved with willow and dogwood plantings. Thousands of willow poles were used to create dam analogs in-stream to protect a severely eroding section of the streambank.
Students and TU developed two interpretive signs and provided information for a third sign on birds, which was created by a local graphic designer. A game cam was installed to allow students to photographically record changes in the site. Temperature loggers were deployed to record changes in in-stream water temperature.
Cascade High School is committed to helping with site maintenance and monitoring.
