The Stream of Dreams Mural in Riggins Idaho

The Stream of Dreams program is a non-profit educational program that focuses on teaching community members about the source of their water, how to protect their water, and where their water goes after it has been through their homes and schools. The program provides this education through the scope of the life cycle of Salmon and other aquatic animals. The lasting legacy of this program is the installation of a mural comprised of about 340 hand painted fish (painted by members of the community and students) on a fence in the community. The wooden “blank” fish are cut out and primed by inmates at a penitentiary in Canada, and the weed is recycled from scaffolding manufacturing. The Meadows Valley School District participated with the Salmon River Joint School District, with approximately 260 students participating.

A colorful display of wooden fish painted with vibrant patterns by students, lined up on a wooden railing as part of an environmental art project.
A chain-link fence decorated with a "stream" of brightly painted wooden fish, created by community members to raise awareness for watershed health.
Students gathered around a hands-on stream table, using sand and water to model river flow, erosion, and the importance of healthy riparian zones.
