Phase III – Red Ives Creek Wood Placement

The Red Ives Creek is about 7 miles long and drains 13 square miles. It is located in Sections 20 and 21 of T.43N. R.9E. of Shoshone County near the Montana border. It is accessible from both St. Maries, Idaho and St. Regis, Montana. Located in the headwaters of the St. Joe River, is one of the few tributaries that provides occupied critical spawning and rearing habitat for bull trout in the entire Coeur d’Alene Basin. Red Ives is one of five streams where bull trout redds were found in 2022. It hosts all life stages of bull trout and Westslope cutthroat trout even with legacy impacts from placer mining, timber management, and forest fires.
